Why Technology Matters: How We Use Tech to Give You the Best Experience Possible

How We Use Technology to Give You The Best Experience Possible

At the dental offices of Dr. Sexton, we believe you deserve advanced dental care in a comfortable, relaxing environment. You have unique dental needs which is why Dr. Sexton and his team always listen to you and work with you to achieve your smile goals. The advancement of technology helps us to give you faster, more comfortable and more accurate treatment than ever before.

Technological advancements in the past twenty years have created a reality today that’s incredibly reminiscent to that of the Jetsons cartoon. We have vacuums that run themselves, self-parking cars, and watches that track every step we take and calorie we burn. We no longer need to open up a map to navigate a drive, get tangled up in headphone cords, or open up a hefty encyclopedia volume.

When you are in our offices you will experience state-of-the-art dental technology while in the hands of an experienced dental team that treats you just like family. Here are the ways technology allows us to give you the best experience possible when you are in our offices.

DIAGNOdent®

Early detection and treatment when it comes to our health are invaluable. That’s why we are such big fans of the DIAGNOdent® system. It’s a small, pen-sized portable laser that enables us to detect cavities that would have previously gone unnoticed using traditional detection methods. As we move the detector over your teeth it will alert us with an audible signal and a readout providing the cavity’s size with a scale rating.

With DIAGNOdent we are able to find cavities on the chewing surfaces of back teeth which in the past where more difficult to detect. This is especially true for cavities in the proximal area, the area of the tooth touching the tooth beside it. We are now able to stop cavities in their infancy, long before they have a chance to become significantly bigger. Areas of a tooth that have signs of decay will exhibit a higher fluorescence from the laser—the higher the fluorescence the higher the scale reading.

Intraoral Camera

The intraoral camera is another slim, pen-like design that allows us to show you the work being done in your mouth both during treatment planning and dental procedures. We find this helps ease the minds of our anxious patients as it removes the layer of mystery around what is happening during a procedure.

We can show you an infinitely clearer picture of your teeth and bite in comparison to depending solely on X-ray images.

While we walk you through the recommended treatment plan we’ll show you your teeth digitally on a monitor so you can see precisely what we are proposing. The intraoral camera allows us to work together as a team to meet your dental care goals.

Digital Photography

Digital photography gives Dr. Sexton and the team instant images to use for smile design and to keep on file for future reference.

Digital photography also allows us to easily store and access your images to track the progress of both your oral health and smile goals.

ClearCorrect™

Straighten your teeth without the embarrassment and discomfort of metal braces. ClearCorrect™ is a system of clear, removable aligners to incrementally straighten your teeth over time that has been FDA approved.

We use 3D computer imaging to map-out your ClearCorrect™ treatment plan, allowing you to see what your teeth will look like before beginning treatment. Then, using 3-dimensional imaging, a series of custom aligners are created.

Each set of aligners incrementally moves your teeth closer to the desired alignment result. Throughout the course of your treatment plan, you will replace each aligner with the next in the sequence.

The aligners are easily removed to eat and drink. This also makes brushing and flossing your teeth infinitely easier than metal braces. You’ll never need to worry about food getting stuck between wires or carefully thread between each space when flossing.

CEREC

Cosmetic restorations in the past required several visits to the dentist. But now with the CEREC® system, here at the dental offices of Dr. Sexton we are able to create and place custom, natural-looking restorations in just one visit.

The CEREC system, often referred to as same-day crowns or single visit crowns, utilizes CAD/CAM technology to take a digital imprint of your teeth. Using this digital imprint we then create crowns and other dental prosthetics that accurately match your bite and tooth coloring in office. A machine carefully mills, paints, and hardens a ceramic block into the perfect fit while we prepare your post for placement.

The CEREC system eliminates the need for gooey impressions, second visits, and temporary crowns. It also makes for a far more accurate and customizable end result in far less time.

So come experience for yourself the difference that technology has made in a routine visit.
