Restorative Dentistry

Your smile is worth saving.

OUR APPROACH TO RESTORATIVE DENTISTRY

Sometimes teeth become severely decayed or damaged, even to the point of needing an extraction. At Dr. Gregory S. Sexton, DDS, we offer a range of restorative dental treatments to help you smile confidently again, from crowns and bridges to dentures and implants.

We use the latest restorative techniques and technology at our dental practice, including digital impressions. Digital impressions provide more accurate outcomes than traditional impressions, and patients love that there is no need for bulky, uncomfortable trays or messy impression material.

We truly enjoy helping patients restore their oral function so they can live their healthiest lives. Dr. Sexton will thoroughly evaluate your case to provide conservative recommendations and empower you to make decisions about your own health.

Crowns

STRONG AND DURABLE

Dental crowns are restorations designed to protect a compromised tooth from further damage. A crown sits over the tooth and is affixed with dental cement. It is a sturdy, long-lasting solution that helps you retain your natural tooth. We offer lab-created zirconia and e.max crowns, as well as full-gold crowns for posterior teeth. Our crowns are comfortable, functional, and natural-looking—no one will even notice you have one as we will color-match your zirconia or e.max crown to blend in with your smile.

Dental Bridges

A SOLUTION FOR MISSING TEETH

Dental bridges replace one or more missing teeth. Traditional bridges are made out of full-coverage crowns fused to a false crown (or crowns) in the middle to span the space. Your dentist then cements the bridge permanently in place with dental cement. Implant-supported bridges function the same way; the only difference is that the crowns on either side fit over implants instead of natural teeth. At Dr. Gregory S. Sexton, DDS, we offer zirconia, porcelain, or porcelain-fused-to-metal bridges. Once the gap is filled, proper function is restored and you can chew normally again.

Dental Implants

A PERMANENT SOLUTION FOR MISSING TEETH

Dental implants can replace one or multiple missing teeth and offer many benefits. Once in place, they look and feel just like your natural teeth. They support your facial structure and prevent the facial collapse and sunken appearance that often occurs when patients do not replace missing teeth. They are also easy to clean and maintain since they are fixed in place; just gently brush and floss around them the same way you do your natural teeth.

The ideal candidate for dental implants is someone who has enough bone to support them. Our team will look at your dental X-rays to assess whether there is enough bone density for implant success. Candidates for implants should also have healthy gums free from any periodontal disease and be otherwise healthy. To find out if you’re a good candidate for dental implants, contact us for an evaluation.

Full and Partial Dentures

REPLACING TEETH TO MAINTAIN PROPER FUNCTION

It’s important to fill the spaces left by missing teeth. Otherwise, the surrounding teeth may shift, affecting your bite and your abilities to chew and speak properly. People with multiple missing teeth are often self-conscious about smiling, so replacement not only helps from a functional standpoint but also boosts confidence and self-esteem.

As the name suggests, partial dentures are removable restorations for patients who have some (but not all) teeth missing. Replacement teeth are attached to a base plate, typically with supporting metal clasps that hold everything in place. The partial dentures slide into the mouth easily, and it’s a way that patients can still retain their natural, healthy teeth. When a patient is missing all of their teeth, full dentures are necessary. These function similarly but are held in place by the suction created by a snug fit. Patients can eat and drink normally with both partial and full dentures. They are easily removable for cleaning, and you should leave them out at night to give your gums a rest.

Implant-Supported Dentures

FOR THE MOST NATURAL LOOK AND FEEL

Sometimes traditional dentures can rub or irritate the gums. Implant-supported dentures prevent this issue altogether. Surgically placed implants fuse together with the jawbone for permanent retention, and the denture itself fits over the implant abutments that sit above the gumline. This provides a greater level of stability and comfort than traditional removable dentures and prevents the need for dental adhesive.

Dr. Gregory S. Sexton, DDS, offers fixed and removable implant-supported dentures. If you’re looking for a permanent solution for missing teeth, ask him whether you’re a suitable candidate for this innovative treatment.
